Bridging Broken Bonds

More than 80 rescued cats are fortunate to call The Wildcat Sanctuary home. Each cat we rescue is considered an accomplishment, but the hard work is far from over. For those that come with physical wounds from abuse and neglect, the healing begins immediately. For those with emotional wounds, the road to recovery is a much longer one.

Just like people, animals become comfortable with the familiar, no matter how unpleasant it may be. Although Lilly, a Bengal tiger, spent years starving in a tiny, filthy cage, she finds comfort in Titan, a tiger who shared that life with her.

Sydney and Shay, two lynx, came to TWS with a huge burden to bear. They survived abuse that caused broken jaws in both cats, making them mistrust humans. Sydney also carried the responsibility of being Shay’s protector. With time and patience, Sydney learned to trust us and continues to be the bridge between Shay’s continued timid-ness toward people.

It takes hours each day for our Animal Care Staff to monitor the progress and transition of cats like Spring, Lilly and Sydney. Specially built enclosures are needed to give cats like Spring enough space to escape the presence of other cougars and humans if it becomes too much. Sydney and Shay are given enrichment items and toys to reinforce positive experiences and build trust. New enclosures are needed for cats that will never be comfortable living with other wildcats.

Each dollar we raise allows us to help make the transition easier for these cats. That’s why your participation in our Bridging Broken Bonds program is so important!

Our goal is to raise $18,200 from generous friends - like you - to provide the special care for every animal in transition at the Sanctuary and for those on our waiting list.

Please send your gift today to help wildcats bridge the broken bonds in their
lives. Each cat deserves the chance to experience being wild at heart.
