2 New Tiger Habitats
callie

We’ve begun 2 new tiger free-roaming habitats in the Feline Meadows section of the Sanctuary.  Each will have a fun splash pool, multiple platforms to climb, trees and toys. Funding has already been secured for the outdoor portion of these habitats and construction is underway!  These will be our largest tiger habitats.

Central Animal Building – You Can Help!

At the Sanctuary, the cats have outdoor free-roaming habitats but they also have access to an indoor, temperature-controlled building. We’re breaking ground this summer on the Feline Meadows animal building that will provide 13 indoor rooms for rescued big cats. Each room has a safety door to the outside, a kennel front, cozy hammock to lounge in or perch to lay on, water and more.

Funding for this central animal building is critical for several reasons. Not only does it provide an area for animals to escape extreme heat and cold, but it is where the cats are fed and therefore, positively conditioned to enter the building during inclement weather. Work can be safely performed in their habitats and routine cleanings done while the cats enjoy indoor activities. It also serves as a recovery area for cats after veterinary procedures and exams. During their geriatric years, it gives them a safe place to retreat to while providing caretakers close access to provide much needed specialized care.

What will it cost?

  • Earthworks for site prep $920 5595803160_d320bdb23c_o
  • Concrete slab $21,280
  • In-floor heat and boiler $11,800
  • Electrical $8,500
  • Construction of the building and stalls $75,000
  • Steel safety and kennel doors $13,650
  • Waterproofing walls and floor $15,000
  • Septic Tank $2,750
  • Road Around building and habitats $1,800

Total for Feline Meadows Building: $150,700

Can you help us build this for them?
