Lindsey, a Siberian
lynx, was one of 30+ kittens born on a fur farm in Saskatchewan,
Canada. Sadly, fur farms still prosper in both the United
States and Canada. Had Lindsey’s path not let her to
TWS, her life would have ended prematurely on the fur farm
at the age of two. Unfortunately, there are many others like
Lindsey who are not as lucky and suffer unimaginable fates
in fur farms each year. Luckily, both Lindsey and her brother
Otis were given a second chance to
live out their lives at TWS where they can be wild at heart.
Understandably, Lindsey arrived at TWS filled with mistrust.
Lindsey was very aggressive when she arrived at TWS and quickly
developed a reputation of being a bully among the other residents.
As time went by, Lindsey learned to trust and enjoys the solitude
afforded her at TWS. Having lived out her welcome with other
roommates, Lindsey lives alone in her own habitat.
A
truckload of pine trees was donated to the sanctuary after
the 2003-2004 holiday season. Lindsey’s curiosity overtook
her when one of the trees was brought into her habitat. Typically,
Lindsey preferred to remain high atop her favorite perch,
which gave her the perfect vantage point over all activity
at the sanctuary. Trying not to appear too intrigued, Lindsey
stretched and yawned before coming down to check out the latest
addition. Lindsey proceeded to investigate the new smells,
the texture, and even the taste of the tree. Upon completing
her investigation, Lindsey expressed her approval by lying
underneath the bushy pine.
