sampson

Sampson was the second cat to come to the Sanctuary and therefore holds a special place in our hearts.

He’s a chubby little caracal! He doesn’t eat all that much, we just think he has a slow metabolism. Sampson lives with a group of servals, another African wildcat. We’ve tried to introduce him to other cats of his species, but he seems to prefer his little spotted friends. We think he just likes being the ‘different’ one in the group.

Recently, Sampson began sleeping directly on his back - with his big potbelly stomach in the air and legs going every which direction! It doesn’t leave much room for the servals trying to nap on the perch next to him. They have accepted this ‘outsider’ and love him for who he is. Animals can teach us so much!
