Wiggy

Wiggy the F1 BengalIn Memory – January 2012

Wiggy_an_F!_BengalOur sweet girl Wiggy has passed.  Even as a 16 year old F1 Bengal, Wiggy still had a spark left in her.  She would always greet the keepers in the morning to get her tuna and mice treats.  In recent months, Wiggy was showing some signs of discomfort while walking.  X-rays showed she had serious spondylosis and was causing her to stumble a bit when she walked.  We decided that Wiggy would let us know when her time was and we were happy that as the months passed Wiggy kept up her strength.  She relied on her friend Zac to snuggle at night and let her know that it was going to be ok.  Early this week, we brought Wiggy to the vet because of an eye infection.  We were shocked to learn during the exam that she had a tumor and was, unfortunately, growing at a rapid rate.  It was most likely mammary cancer given her years as an un-spayed breeder prior to TWS. Wiggy was letting us know that it was finally her time to go.  As we helped her pass, I couldn’t help but imagine her sister Maugy, who passed a few years back, waiting to greet her with a head butt.  It’s sad to see her go and we will all miss her, but now she can be pain free and reunited with her sister.  Goodbye sweet Wiggy you will always be part of our wild family and will now be forever free.

You can be Wiggy’s forever sponsor by purchasing her Memorial Stone.

Wiggy’s Background

TWS was contacted by a Bengal rescue group in Colorado, where a large breeder was closing down and needed to place the cats that were not adoptable. They had several hybrid Bengals that were unable to be socialized for adoption.  TWS was called and was able to take in Wiggy along with nine other cats. Wiggy was born in 1996 and came to the sanctuary in 2008.

Wiggy is a shy girl, but curious when it comes to what enrichment the caretakers are bringing into the enclosure.  She lives in a bungalow with several other cats that keep her company and cuddle with her.  The bungalow is split into an indoor and outdoor area equipped with perches, hammocks, dens, trees, rocks to lounge on, and even an in-ground pool
