Sebastian is a marbled Bengal cat we rescued in October of 2022. He was about 14 years old at the time. Since we already had Sebastian the serval and Sebastian the bengal living at the sanctuary, we nicknamed him Sebastian Stan.
To us, a small cat in need is just as important as a big cat in need. That’s why we drove to Ohio to pick up Sebastian Stan. He was in need of a home due to the closure of Tri-State Zoological Park in Maryland. This notorious roadside zoo had a long list of animal welfare violations, chronic neglect dating all the way back to 2005. You can read more about that HERE.
October 15, 2022 concluded the five-day rescue operation there involving 65 animals of 30 species. Photos of some of the animals rescued from Tri-State are HERE.
14 reputable sanctuaries and accredited zoos from Maryland to California, agreed to care for the animals, including bears, exotic birds, a Bengal cat, alligators, coatimundis, and others.
We’d been involved in this legal case for quite some time. After seeing firsthand the poor conditions the animals were living in there, we’d offered a home for the big cats years ago.
The big cats went to another sanctuary, but our commitment was strong. ANY cat who needed us, we’d be there for them. And so that’s how Sebastian Stan ended up making the long journey to us.
Life at the Sanctuary
Sebastian Stan arrived with an upper respiratory infection we began treating right away. We’d been told he was about 12-14 years old. He’d lived in an outside area there at the facility and, though friendly to people, he had attacked other cats. So we know he’ll prefer living alone.
Our plan is to have Sebastian Stan live in one of our intern houses where he’ll get loads of attention and affection, just as he’s always deserved.
How You Can Help
It would be so wonderful for Sebastian Stan to have a sponsor parent. What a special way to welcome him to his forever home.
If you’d like to be his sponsor parent for $150 annually or $12.50 monthly, it’s easy to do using the buttons at the top of this page. Or, a one time donation toward his care would also be very helpful.
Thank you for caring about Sebastian Stan’s future, too.
